Information about riding green lanes with Trail Rides Wales

We use three different areas and they are long distances apart. For instance, you wouldn't want to book accommodation in Pontrhydfendigaid and then find you are riding near Dolgellau - they are 90 miles and 2 hours journey from each other! Please ask if you are not sure where it would be best to stay.

A range of accommodation is available:

Our house

The accommodation is open plan with four beds upstairs and one small double bed downstairs. If there are six of you and one doesn’t mind "roughing it;" we can supply a mattress on the floor of the living area. Cooked breakfast is available to set you up for a day’s trail riding. The living area has Sky TV. You are welcome to bring your own drinks and snacks. There is a fridge, and a microwave with grill can be provided if you wish to be self-sufficient in the evening. Please note that parking is limited. One or two small vans or cars and trailers can be parked with us, but if there are more than two, some will have to be parked along the road from our house. For trail riding, most people stay in the Llanidloes area, although the Machynlleth area may be better if you are doing two days riding with different start places.

If you have your own bikes, it is most likely that we will ride from Llwyngwern Farm.
Several B and Bs are particularly welcoming to riders:

Maenllwyd in Machynlleth is also welcoming to trail riders, phone 01654 702928.
A few miles along the A493 at Pennal, there is the Escape, a 4 star bed and breakfast, with secure lockable undercover storage for bikes - also drying facilities, rack storage, an outside sink and power washer available for guests to use which trailriders may find useful!
A few miles along the A487 at Eglwsyfach, there is Plas Mawr, phone 01654 781286.

If you wish to camp, Llwyngwern Farm, Pantperthog, is run by an active trail rider, Ralph Beaumont. It is open from Easter until the end of October. Email or phone 01654 702492.

In the Dolgellau area, there is a unique licensed guest house specifically aimed at motorcyclists: The Bikers Retreat   01341 423192.
