What is Trail Riding?Trail riding is motorcycling on roads which never received a tarmac surface or ones where the tarmac was not repaired and the surface has reverted to grass or natural stone. Trail riding is fun, challenging, exciting, improves your skills and takes you into the most scenic areas of Wales. "Many thanks for the two days’ trail riding. We all felt the way you built up everybody's confidence on the first day, and eased us in to the trails, then built up to more challenging trails but without taking anybody too far out of their limits. Nobody got too tired, all are still smiling and want to come back. We also thought the standard of equipment supplied was exceptional. " Steve, from Dunfermline. Most of our information is aimed at riders who are interested in beginning trail riding and who don't have their own trail or enduro bike. Where Will We Be Trail Riding? With road riders without any previous offroad or trail riding experience, we ride near Aberystwyth. For riders who have already done some trail riding or similar (enduro, trials, etc), the Machynlleth area provides excellent trail riding. We sometimes go trail riding further north or south. All our routes have a good variety of trail riding, with hills, rock steps, stream and river crossings and a little mud (but not too much!) For riders who prefer an easier day, we can choose a route which avoids steep hills and scary trail riding! For those who want a more challenging day, we can take you places which provide tricky trail riding. Usually we ride about 70 miles, but can be flexible to fit in with your requirements. There is always some tarmac road when trail riding, and a motorcycle licence is necessary. For people who want to experience trail riding but don't have a licence, we offer riding on farm and private land. We teach people who have never ridden a motorbike before from age 13 upwards. Back to Trail Riding Using Our BikesWe have enduro and trail bikes available, from 125cc to 510cc. These are two Honda CRF230s, two Husqvarna TE250s, a Suzuki DRZ400, a Yamaha TTR250, a Suzuki DR125 and a Serow. The Serow has a very low seat height, so is ideal for riders with shorter legs. Colin rides a Husqvarna TE510, which he will make available to an experienced trail rider, or someone who learns quickly! What Do I Need To Bring?Nothing! Well, nearly nothing – only spare socks, and, if you are riding in winter, spare trousers and thermal underwear (if you own some!) All protective clothing is provided. Depending on the route, we usually go to a cafe or pub at lunchtime, but if you wish to bring a packed lunch, that is fine. "The men have all arrived home and apart from the numpty who fell off, have all really enjoyed themselves. Andrew in particular says if you need a guide he is more than willing to apply for the job - he could think of nothing better than doing that every day! All they have done since they got back is laugh and talk about their weekend. Thanks for making it a great experience and they look forward to seeing you again soon. " Debbie, on behalf of Shaun, Andy, Mick and Dave, from Sudbury, Suffolk. |
